March 29, 2019: Director Beth Van Meeteren participates in Diversity in STEM Conference: Building Pipelines to Innovation at Hawkeye Community College

Van Meeteren, with educators at the annual conference on science, technology, engineering and mathematics to explore strategies to build and expand on STEM programs that entice and engage our diverse communities in high-demand careers. This year's keynote speaker was Kantis Simmons, a former NASA scientist who has developed products for Mobile Chemical Company, created contact lens products for CIBA Vision, and improved aircraft, space shuttles and military jets for NASA Langley Research Center. He now works to reinvigorate STEM education, change student drop-out rates, slow the teacher turnover trend, and put an end to the student loan debt epidemic.
