Language Acquisition Project

Associate Professor and Regents' Center Faculty Affiliate Dr. Mary Donegan-Ritter and Project Assistant Sherri Peterson recently completed a language acquisition project. Working through a practice-based coaching model, the two researchers worked alongside infant toddler teachers to improve use of language facilitation strategies. These efforts led to gains in teacher's use of parallel talk, encouraging turn taking, self talk, and imitating then modeling language. The results are being analyzed and submitted for publication.
